Starting with the 2008/2009 PI 1709 (Driver Education Program Approval Application), school districts will be required to use Teacher File Numbers instead of teacher's social security numbers.
1. To find a teacher's file number, simply go to the DPI Teacher Licensing Look-up/search page at: https://www2.dpi.wi.gov/lic-tll/home.do
2. Enter the last name and first name of the teacher, and click search. If there is only one person with that first and last name, a page will open up summarizing that person's DPI Teacher license history. At the top of the page will be the teacher's name and immediately below the
teacher's name will be that teacher's File Number. The file number is what will be needed when competing the teacher information portion of the PI 1709.
