The Virginia Association of Driver Education and Traffic Safety
(VADETS), in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Education, is
pleased to be able to offer a quality online staff development for
driver education teachers. Through a federal grant written by our
Executive Director, Dick Tyson, all VADETS members are eligible to
take the online driver education class AT NO COST and receive a
45-contact-hour certificate from the Department of Education that can
be used towards continuing education points!
For a nominal fee of $45, non-members are also invited to take
advantage of this fabulous staff development opportunity--the $45 fee
covers the bandwidth costs.
If you would like to join VADETS for $20, please go to
www.adtsea.iup.edu/vadets/ and scroll down to VADETS Information to
access the membership application.
TO REGISTER FOR THE ONLINE STAFF DEVELOPMENT COURSE:
Go to www.vadrivered.com and complete ALL the fields on the
registration form. When you get to the payment section, VADETS
members should indicate they will be paying by CHECK--don't worry,
Dick Tyson will cover this cost for you! Please note: contrary to
the next series of instruction you will read, you will NOT be required
to complete the workbook.
Non members may pay by PayPal or by check.
The federal grant period ends Sept 30, 2004--so don't miss this great
opportunity!
Mr. Tyson recently submitted another grant to continue to offer this
staff development free of charge after Sept. 30th; but
unfortunately, there is no guarantee VADETS will get the funding.
So, don't wait, sign up NOW!
If you have any additional questions, please contact Dick at

PS-- the feedback we have received from teachers who have taken the
course is glowing--they stated that it was a great investment of their
time and many felt they developed a better understanding of some
driver education concepts! Yeeeeeha!
